Statement Statement from the Premier on Ontario Medical Association Vote June 17, 2017 Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne released the following statement today: "On May 18, 2017, Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, and I announced that a tentative agreement had been reached with the Ontario Medical Association on a process for binding interest arbitration with the Government of Ontario. Today, we are pleased that this agreement has been ratified by OMA membership. This is an important step toward reaching a new Physician Services Agreement and we look forward to the start of substantive negotiations in the near future. As part of this agreement, both the Ontario Medical Association and the government will also have access to mediation and then arbitration. We are confident these discussions will be both positive and collaborative. Ontario's doctors are an essential part of a strong and sustainable health care system. Rebuilding a strong and productive relationship with Ontario's physicians is essential to increasing access to care, reducing wait times and improving the patient experience."
